The best way to describe Raksha aka "Raki" is pure happiness. She is a great companion who only seeks love and attention in return. She is the perfect mix of a dog that likes to snuggle and be by your side while still being young and active. She is amazingly content and will rest and play with her toys when she'd probably rather be out playing but when her foster mom is tired and wants to take a nap, I guess you do what you have to do but for a young healthy active dog to put you before her own desires is a pretty special characteristic. She loves to curl up next to you and watch tv. She'll even share a pillow with you, she sees you come home.

Raki does love to go to the dog park. She gets along great with every dog that she meets. She likes to get the other dogs to run with her. She comes when you call her back and she'll always keep you insight and will never let you stray too far away when she's playing with her canine friends! A fenced in yard or access to somewhere that she can run will keep her happy. She would do great in a home as the only dog or with other dogs.

She has spent the first 11 months of her life at the shelter so she's used to being in a kennel. She has mixed feelings about her crate. She will go in her crate on her own if she's tired and everyone is busy doing their own thing. On the other hand, we crate her while we're not home and she's not too excited that we're leaving so it takes a little extra treat to get her to go in sometimes. Her ideal home would be a moderate to active home where she's not left by herself for long days/everyday of the week.

She's had a lot of new experiences with being in a home for the first time. She can still get timid or nervous with new sounds but that's to be expected with any dog. She was fascinated by the tv and still is. She likes watching dog videos on youtube! She does well with everyone she meets. It may take her a little longer to warm up to someone that is loud or makes strong movements because she doesn't understand so she'll just stay away from them until she finds them more calm and approachable. She's smart and will continue to learn with new experiences but she also likes routines because she knows what to expect.

She is very quiet, very rarely ever barks. She loves attention and will give you a million kisses to show her love. She prefers squeaky toys but occasionally will chew on a bone. She hasn't caught on to fetch yet- she'll chase after the ball but then that's it. She loves to sniff the deer, rabbit and squirrel tracks in our yard.

To adopt the FIRST STEP is to complete an APPLICATION.

Adopters must be 24 years of age. We can not adopt to families with children under the age of six. We also only adopt in WI, IL, and parts of MN. Most of our dogs are strays, so the breed is our best guess.
