Meet Pumpkin Patch

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Happy Fall! My name is Pumpkin Patch! My foster mom just calls me Patches, but she keeps saying she should have named me "Unapologetically and Eternally Blissfully Ecstatic One" Not sure what that means exactly, but she does also say that I could light up a Christmas Tree! And I do know what trees are, I really love to lift my leg and. let the world know I own all of them! I am the happiest boy you've ever seen and so thrilled about my second chance at life. I am a 1-year-old male, heeler mix. I am a great size at 47 pounds, and I have such a beautiful, soft, speckled coat. Even though I am part heeler, I am of a much calmer variety than what you typically see in a working dog.

What makes me such an adoptable dog? I love, love, LOVE to play with all other dogs! If they don't like me then I will respectfully try to get them to play with me from a distance. I can hold my own with the big breeds and I am gentle enough to play with the smaller ones. I am wonderful at listening to other dogs' corrections. In my foster home I have shown no aggression whatsoever, even when food, toys, or other high-prized items have been in the mix.

I walk quite well on a leash; I just need a little fine tuning here and there. I am just starting my crate training and although, I am not always excited to be in my crate, I do great with it. I sleep through the night and if I do vocalize wanting out it is a soft and very bearable whine that doesn't go on for too long and won't cause you to contemplate your life choices. The other big plus? I haven't had any accidents in my crate!

I watched my foster siblings use the dog door a few times and I figured it out almost immediately, I am a very intelligent boy. I was just neutered, and I am young so to make sure I don't mark in the house my foster mom has kept a belly band on me. She thinks in her home though, that I may have graduated from it because I listen to verbal correction SO well. I am a herding breed after all, and we come out of the womb practically speaking English. I do actually have an off switch unlike a lot of herding dogs. After a walk and some wrestling, I like to cuddle up next to my foster siblings and take a nice nap. Other qualities that set me apart from most herding breeds? I won't chase you around the kitchen like a steer and nip at your heels. I am not a nippy boy. Sometimes I like to play bite when I wrestle with you, but I am oh so gentle, and I also take treats out of your hand very gently too.

When first coming to my foster home and still needing time to adjust and decompress I have occasionally been standoffish and skittish, more so with men. However, my foster mom has been pleasantly surprised at how quickly I have settled in and adjusted, in such a very short amount of time. My shyness probably won't stick with me once I feel safe and loved in my forever home and get some consistency in my life. I am pulled out of it even quicker when other confident dogs are around. After only a day I already follow my foster mom around everywhere and like to lay by her feet while she cooks and works in the kitchen. I am a very peaceful and enjoyable companion to have around.

I love to play in the water! I like to splash around in kiddie pools, and I love to bite at water that comes out of a hose or tap. I would love kids of my own to play in the water with me! Dog savvy kids are probably best for me until I am more confident. When I am excited, I do like to jump up. When my foster mom corrects me then I just jump up in front of her without touching her which makes her laugh, I'm really not "breaking the rules" if I am paws off, right? With a little more training I can break the habit, but I may unintentionally knock small kids over until then. Check out the fabulous progression photo montage of me jumping on command in my pics!

What do you think? Ready to settle down with a sweet little pumpkin that will love you to the full moon and back? Apply to meet me today! @: https://bit.ly/RRAdoptionApplication
