Puffin Great Dane Frederick, MD

Over 280 days in foster care and still waiting....Puffin continues to stay positive and hope that her forever family is out there. We're shocked she's been with us so long!

Puffin is a smaller Great Dane at a mere 95lbs. She has been in homes with other dogs, although we feel it’s best for her to live in a home with no other dogs. She currently lives with young children and a baby but children over 13 would be best as she gets extremely excited when children are playing and oftentimes will jump on them. She wants to join in on the fun!

She's happy and calm pretty much all the time. She loves to nap on a dog bed and couches, and will happily snuggle up with her people. She has never met a person she didn’t like! She will follow her people around to any room in the house and nap or wait quietly for some loving. She only barks very rarely and would not be a good guard dog, but is great at keeping the house quiet and relaxed.

She knows how to sit and lay down and is learning to give her paw gently for a shake when she's asked. She learns tricks very quickly with food motivation and is eager to please her people.

Puffin does experience leash reactivity when being walked as she was so used to the streets of Texas and roaming free at all times. Something about other dogs makes her feel anxious. She needs to be the only dog in the household, but promises to give plenty of love for the whole family!

Puffin came with many battle wounds on her legs, a rotten tooth, and was even heartworm positive. Given her time with us, she has completed her heartworm treatment, had her bad tooth removed and would love a home with a backyard that she can do her zoomies in.

Sometimes it’s hard to gauge the age of a Texas dog as their time on the streets make them appear older then they are. Given Puffins energy, we would estimate her to be between 4-6yrs old.
