Hi my future family! My name is Poppy and I am a 1 year old Basset Mix! I currently weigh about 32 Ibs and my foster family thinks I’m mostly fully grown. I get along well with dogs of all sizes and ages—I’ve been to work with my foster mom at doggie daycare and I LOVE IT!!!! I have had a blast making a ton of friends and being a silly playful girly! I also have a cat foster brother who I don’t mind. Sometimes I like to nudge him to play but I am respectful of my cat friend! I love to play with toys and chew on bones and have not had any problems with sharing. I sleep through the night either in my crate or cuddled up next to my foster family. When I’m not playing I loveeeee to nap! I’ve only had 2 accidents in the house so far and do best when let outside for potty consistently every few hours. I enjoy going for car rides and eagerly jump into the car! If you’ll let me, I CALL SHOTGUN!!! I am trustworthy so far in the house but do not mind going into my crate when you have to leave the house.

I’m learning to take longer walks around the neighborhood and am building confidence while on the leash. Since I am a little unsure of new things at times, I would do best with older kids while I am still learning what being with a loving family is like.

If you would like to be considered as a potential adopter for one of our great dogs, please go to our website- www.luckymuttsrescue.org and submit an application. Our application process includes landlord approval and vet checks. Please make sure all of your information is current and accurate, including a valid email address and phone numbers. Inaccuracies and/or incomplete data will delay and/or cancel your application. We strive to process all applications in a timely manner, but with the high volume of applications we are receiving, it is taking anywhere from 1-3 weeks. You may be contacted via email if there are concerns or questions. Once all of your information is reviewed and if your application is approved, you will be notified via email. Submitting an application and receiving an approval does not guarantee you will be adopting the dog you applied for. Once you move to the meet and greet process, you will be contacted by the foster family to further discuss the dog, and answer questions you may have, and if applicable, a meet and greet will be set up at our adoption center. Meet and greets are only set up with approved applicants, and we require all members in the household to be present, as well as any current dogs in the home. Meet and greets take place at our adoption center located in Milwaukee. If you are proceeding with adopting a Lucky Mutt, we will require the dog to have a Martingale collar at the time of adoption, to ensure the dogs safety during the transition to a new home.

Current Adoption Fees Are:
$400+tax for puppies to 3 years old
$350+tax for ages 4-7
$250+tax for ages 8 and up
Bonded pairs vary

The adoption fee covers spay/neuter, up to date age appropriate vaccinations, microchip, general deworming, heartworm test, (if over 6 months) and a certified veterinary inspection. Please be aware, listed dog breeds are based on information provided and cannot be guaranteed. Submitting an application for a particular dog does not guarantee that you will be the applicant chosen, we receive several applications for each dog. Our adopters are picked based on the needs of the dog, and the home we feel with best fit based on your responses to our application, vet information and landlord requirements. Approved applicants not chosen for the dog you applied for, will be in active status for a period of six months. We encourage you to watch Petfinder, Facebook and our website for upcoming dogs.
