This dog is currently out of state but will be transported to New England shortly with no additional travel costs. The long distance adoption process includes talking to the foster they are living with in the south. Roughly 90% of our dogs are successfully long distance adopted and 10% adopted locally.

Meet Polly - a 9 month old, Black Mouth Cur mix, who weighs 35 pounds (as of 8/23/24). Poor Polly was found as a stray, after she had been dumped in the bushes in rural Mississippi when she was a puppy. When animal control found her, they brought her to a kill shelter. We got word that her time was almost up, and knew we had to intervene and rescue her! Despite her tough history, she is the happiest girl and is sure to steal your heart.

Her foster shares: "The day she entered the rescue's care she knew her life had changed for the better. Polly is SPECTACULAR! She is a super sweet girl who loves everyone she meets. Polly is a happy girl who has lots of love to give. She loves to run and play with her doggy friends. She is energetic and would do great with a family who leads an active lifestyle. She is wonderful with children and would love to grow up with them. She will lean into you when she wants extra scratches. While this girl had a sad start to life, you'd never know it with her happy-go-lucky- personality and demeanor. She is simply the best and will make someone (or some family) incredibly happy!"

It is most likely that both their parents were strays and even if not, mixes of some sort and that their grandparents were mixes as well. The dog may have some genetic material of an American Staffordshire Terrier (pit bull). The dogs are usually mixes of many breeds, making them a breed all their own - a True and adorable American MUTT. If you are interested in this dog, you must submit an application.
