Meet Pike (Courtesy Listing)

"Introducing Pike! Pike is a sweet 9 mo. old Anatolian Shepherd-mix currently weighing 65 lbs. He is house and crate trained, walks good on a leash, rides well in a car and gets along with other dogs. Pike has graduated Level 1 obedience training at United Animal Friends and knows a few commands. Being true to the breed, he is a guardian and protector. If someone comes to the home or a stranger comes near his handler, he will bark. While Pike is independent, he is very loyal and stays close on walks, wants to be in the same room with you and lying on your feet to be close. More importantly, Pike is currently a Ladies' Boy and does not have a lot of experience with men. He will bark at men. This needs to be understood and slowly worked with in his new home if a man resides there or visits. It is also unknown how Pike is around children. For playtime, Pike enjoys playing ball. He doesn't quite bring the ball back yet but if you turn around to walk away, the ball will be nearby waiting for you to throw it again. He loves to play with other dogs and does zoomies to burn off energy. Being a puppy, he doesn't understand that zoomies should be done outdoors. While he's not puppy hyper, a large secured yard will be REQUIRED to run and play, and burn off his energy. And being the breed that he is, he also needs a job. Please research this breed before submitting an application for Pike. It is very important that this Breed is understood and his needs are met. Thank you.

Our adoption fee helps cover expenses (vaccinations, microchips, spay/neuter, food, housing) for the homeless pets we rescue. UAF does not adopt or ship outside the state of Arizona. To ensure the best fit, UAF conducts a home visit to meet other pets and verify a safe, secure yard.

If you have any questions or to adopt a dog an application must submitted. Filling out this form does not obligate you to adopt, but gives us the information needed to make sure the pet is suited to your home.

HOW TO APPLY: From Petfinder.com The fastest way to get to the adoptable dog page is to copy and then paste this link into your browser: https://unitedanimalfriends.org/adoptable-dogs/

When you are on the UAF website Select "Adoptable Dogs" and pick the dog you are interested in. To apply to adopt, go into the dog's profile, and click the gray "Apply for Adoption" button to get started.
