Peyton Collie & Shepherd Mix Dillsburg, PA

Peyton is a gorgeous Lassie imposter (he asked us to write 'look alike'), weighing 49 pounds (don't tell him we shared his weight on the internet) and about 10 years young. This young man has energy like a puppy, literally. He will run circles around you!!!


Peyton asked us to share the following with you:
"...Being a 'senior' dog, I am already at a disadvantage for rescue, competing with these young and cute puppies BUT... here is the BUT... I am full grown and independent. My personality is my personality, which is CHARMING, BTW. There will be no surprises with me. Given my independence, I will thrive in a home being the only pet. Trust me, I am enough. I am very smart, witty, treat motivated, as GORGEOUS as can be (can you say 'DODEL' as in dog model), loyal, and READY to find my FURever home.


While I love and appreciate the folks at my rescue, I have been waiting entirely too long to go 'home.'


I am a 'forward thinking' kind of guy, so I don't want to dwell or focus on my life pre-rescue. Pre-rescue wasn't pretty and wasn't full of love, grass, unicorns, and rainbows either. Some of my best years absorbing love (and learning how to love) have been at this rescue.


Like any other human or K9, I have 'my people.' I have 'volunteer favorites' that have proven they are loyal and trustworthy. I have also made a few K9 friends along the way, which is progress from when I first arrived. I guess the expression "you can't teach an old (shouldn't it read 'senior') dog new tricks" is a myth.


I love walks. I love rolling in green grass. I love sniffing my way through a long stroll as the sun sets. I love playing ball, especially carrying a ball. GET THIS: I have been a dodel (dog model) for the rescue presenting at many events, which tells you that I am good in the car, show very well, allow the volunteers to dress me up with silly necklaces & outfits, listen well, predictable, GORGEOUS, and enjoy being on the red carpet (center of attention).


I am ready to love my FURever family unconditionally and receive the same in return. And, well, I would love a soft and comfy bed to sleep in.


I know it seems like a lot to ask given my lack of bargaining power, but I need my FURever family to have a lot of patience with me as living in a home will be a first, being on a 'family schedule' will be a first. These are all exciting firsts that I cannot wait to experience. All I need is time and patience and I will adapt to my new routine, while excelling with manners in no time.
