And now a few words from me:

I'm a very happy, now healthy little man. I've traveled a long way to get here (I'm originally from Kentucky) and am really enjoying my new life. I had to have some major surgery while I was at the shelter in Kentucky but I'll let my foster mom give you details. As for me, I love being with people and would prefer a home where someone is with me at least part of the day. I'm perfectly 100% housetrained and not destructive at all. I do not need to be crated but will gladly go into a crate if that's what you want me to do. When my foster mom is at work, I just snuggle into a nice doggie bed and snooze until she returns. I have not met anyone that I don't want to make my friend because I love everyone and everything. Oh, maybe not cats .... there are no cats here so it's uncertain if I'll like them or not.

And now a few words from my foster mom:

You can't ask for a better dog than Pepe! He's such a nice respectful little man. He's housetrained and crate trained although I don't use a crate for him anymore. When he was at the shelter in KY, they noticed he had a very large extended belly so he had to have exploratory surgery. It turns out that neither of his testicles dropped when he was a young pup, but both were tucked up inside him. One started to grow and eventually, it was a mass of over one full pound of tissue (larger than a baseball!). Now that it's been removed, Pepe is feeling so much better and acting like a puppy quite often. He loves to play in the backyard, chasing and running around but he does get colder than the other dogs as he has no hair on his back. When he's got a sweater on, you'd swear he's a pure yorkie but once the sweater is removed, you'll see that he's almost totally hairless on his back. In the summer time he will need to wear t-shirts so he does not get sunburns and in the fall/winter/spring, he will need a sweater or coat to keep him warm. Pepe would not be great in an apartment or condo unless someone is with him throughout the day because he will use his voice to talk to the noises he hears. He responds well if told to stop but if no one is home and he hears noises, he will bark in response to them. He truly is a great dog and anyone who adopts him will have the best friend for many years to come.
May 9/12 Update Pepe had a bladder stone recently and had to have it surgically removed. As a result, he no longer gets random treats and will need to be on Medi-Cal Urinary SO food for the rest of his life. This food is purchased from any vet clinic, and thankfully Pepe loves it, so it's not difficult to get him to eat this. Pepe is still recovering from the surgery so his housetraining, which previously was absolutely perfect, is now being worked on to get him back to the original state. He does have accidents now and needs to go out more frequently however I do believe he'll be back to normal very soon. Once moved to a new home, you'll have to be prepared for the occasional accident until he gets used to your schedule and you learning his signals that he needs out for a potty break. Other than the bladder stone, Pepe is doing great and loving life more and more every day. He loves to run around in the backyard but is quite content to come back in and cuddle on the couch. All he desperately wants is his own forever home who will treat him like the king he is.
