Meet Patrick

Meet Patrick – Your Gentle Adventure Buddy!

In his own words -

“Hello! I’m Patrick, a calm and loving 8-year-old husky with a heart as warm as my cozy fur coat. I might be a senior, but I’ve got the perfect balance of curiosity for the outdoors and a deep appreciation for the simple joys of home life.

I absolutely adore my daily walks—whether it’s a stroll through the neighborhood, a short hike along a forest trail, or a breezy beach walk, I’m always up for exploring the world by your side. I love to sniff, take in the scenery, and greet new friends along the way. Once we’re back home, I’m all about winding down—curled up near you, soaking in the comfort of companionship and a peaceful home.

With my beautiful beige coat, adorable little stubby tail (that wags non-stop when I’m happy!), and soulful ember eyes, I’ve been known to win hearts wherever I go. I’m easygoing, affectionate, and just want to share life’s everyday moments with someone special.

My journey hasn’t been easy, but I never lost my gentle spirit —I was found a stray, then ended up in an overcrowded kill-shelter in Southern California, where I spent over a month stuck in a kennel getting sick, hoping for a miracle. The shelter did not treat me, even though I was their best behaving pup and they would take me out to meet other dogs to test their temperament.

On the day I was scheduled to be put down, a miracle happened! My rescue mom came across my story shared on Instagram, worked with a team of compassionate humans who believed in me, and got me out of there in the nick of time. I’ve blossomed with loving care and am now all healed from the infections, neutered, and thriving with my foster family in the Pacific Northwest.

I’m potty trained, know how to use a doggy door, and always let you know when it’s time for a potty break. I’m great on a leash and happy to be your one-and-only companion—or I can share my home with another friendly dog.

If you’re looking for a loyal walking partner who’s just as excited about relaxing on the couch as he is about exploring a new trail, I might be your guy. Let’s make beautiful memories together—one walk and one cuddle at a time.

Are you ready to welcome a little more love into your life? I can’t wait to meet you.

Please contact my rescue PawesomeBaby to schedule a meetup!”

Training:
—————————————————————————-

He is such a well behaved boy who listens so good for a husky! He’s amazing on leash and responds great to leash pressure.

1. He has separation anxiety from all the changes he went through in his life. He cannot be crated as he tries to hurt his nose bumping on it.
He’s best suited for a work from home, stay at home or retired family. He might learn to be alone with another dog or by himself after some stability in life.
He does amazing as an office dog going to office with his foster dad.
I’ll update this section as we learn more.

Training Resources:
—————————————

Regardless of who you adopt, we recommend training your pup regularly, to build an everlasting bond with your pup and help them continue to be an amazing canine citizen. We work with Canine Connections coaching trainer in BC, who has created fantastic YouTube videos covering a range of training topics, which we will share with you.

If you’re in the Seattle area, we can also provide a list of reputable trainers who use science-based, positive reinforcement methods to help you establish a training protocol with your newly adopted furbaby.

Health Care:
————————
We highly recommend taking medical insurance for your newly adopted dog, to be able to cover for emergency medical care and for any illnesses that can be costly to treat.

[IMPORTANT]
—————————————————————————-
Below listed requirements are for any dogs we adopt out, meant for everyone’s safety.

• If you have other dogs, then you must also be knowledgeable and have good hands on experience with running a multi-dog home to be able to adopt a dog from us. What’s expected of the adopter is just keeping basic house rules like (1) keep the dogs apart when feeding, monitor & put away left over food, (2) help them build mutual trust before leaving alone with treats, toys around (3) keep dogs out of kitchen when handling food etc

• As with any dog, earn their trust around food handling. This is an essential training for every dog, so they learn to trust their new human. It takes only a couple of practice sessions around meal time with most dogs with no history of food guarding. Teaching to sit, then hand-feeding food & high value treats is one of the best ways to earn trust.

• If you have children at home, they should be at least 8+ yrs, and know to safely & respectfully interact with dogs, to be considered for adoption. We think families with younger children will likely not have the time needed to exercise and nourish a new dog. And the time needed to train little kids to safely interact with dogs, read their body language & respect their personal space. Most dogs do not enjoy little ones clinging to them, pulling their fur, crawling or lying on them. We do not want to risk the safety of neither your child nor our dog. Follow @dogmeets_baby trainer on Instagram to learn more on this topic :-)

• We discourage the use of choke, pinch, prong collars on our dogs. We do not believe this is the humane way to train dogs for obedience, when there are science based, positive reinforcement training methods available today. Besides, huskies are genetically prone to glaucoma of the eyes, and the pressure on the neck will only hurt them more. Training to walk on a well fitted no-pull harness is encouraged. All our dogs come with a “no-pull” harness. You can also use humane collars like martingale collars.

Thank you for considering to adopt a husky in need.

God bless!
