Hi! My name is Patches! I need a home because my person passed away. I'm a very affectionate guy & I love people! I'm in a foster home with a child, other dogs & a cat, & I'm doing great! Before that, I had lived all my life with 3 other male beagles (also available for adoption) outside as a hunting dog. But I love living in a home with people! I love to lay on the couch, get belly rubs, get petted & going for walks! I crave attention & I want to please my people! I follow my foster family & the other dogs around all day - I just love being with others! If I need some space to myself, I just move to another area. Even though I'm in a foster home with a young child & I'm doing really well, I will be placed in a home with older children (8-12 years) or no children. Nittany Beagle Rescue will consider placing Patches in a home with a younger child if the child has considerable experience with older dogs. Patches needs a home with a securely fenced yard. He has been known to dig under a fence, so it needs to be secure. (He will run off looking for bunnies to chase if he gets loose.) Patches walks really well on a leash - except that he chews on the leash - so he needs work on that. He also chews on seatbelts, and so it may be best to crate Patches when traveling in a car to make sure he stays confined. Patches has adjusted well to living in a home. He marked his territory when he first entered his foster home (which is to be expected), but hasn't had an accident in the house since! So he might need a little work on house manners when he first goes into his forever home, but he learns really fast! Patches is 8 years old & neutered. Please think about making Patches part of your family! He is a GREAT dog!
