Meet Pablo!
Pablo is a happy, goofy, lanky guy who has one issue, he doesn't like men. We call him 10 second Tom as he forgets really quickly what is going on and who he has become friends with. He LOVES my daughters and the other women in the house but is scared to death of my husband. My husband is not afraid of Pablo and forces his love upon him until they are cool and sitting on the couch in harmony. Then my husband gets up to do something-like get a drink or use the bathroom. When he comes back Pablo does not remember him and the process starts all over again. He has never bitten my husband. Now if one of the women of the house move or sit by him he is fine. No issue. We don't get it either. Pablo alarm barks if he hears a man's voice or loud noises in the house. We don't worry about intruders with Pablo living here.
Pablo has many wonderful qualities. He is housebroken, does not need to be kenneled, rides in the car beautifully, loves to go on walks, is great with the other dogs in the house, very good with the cats, does not chew on anything inappropriately, and loves to cuddle(with women). Pablo has had a couple of people meet him over the years who tell us "I am great with dogs, they all love me." No, Pablo hates men. I don't care how "great" you are with dogs. Pablo is not normal. He is convinced everyone outside of his current family are murderers. Women he will warm up to with some time and space. Men will always be murderers. These people have learned that quickly. Pablo does not act aggressive, just extreme avoidance.
So the big question is what is Pablo looking for in his forever home?
1. Women. Can't be masculine either-must be feminine. Pablo is terrible about knowing the difference between a masculine female and a man. In his doggie eyes-they are one.
2. Time and space. He needs time to adjust and realize you are not going to kill him. He has split his time between 2 foster home over the last 4 years and when he switches from one to the other it takes a minute for him to adjust. And these are homes he is familiar with. He needs someone who will commit to giving him at least 2 weeks to adjust before rejecting him.
3. Securely fenced yard. Due to his flighty ways he needs a fenced yard that is 6 feet and good.
4. Love. He responds well to a soft voice and love. Not hugely motivated by treats unless it is string cheese. Loves string cheese.

Pablo is neutered, microchipped, heartworm negative, dewormed, potty trained, kennel trained, and currently on Fluoxetine for his anxiety. He was originally brought up from Mexico as a puppy who was not exposed to any human touch until he was about 4 months old. We think this caused lasting distrust of humans.
