Meet Oso

Gorgeous Oso is a 5-year-old boy weighing around 88 pounds. Pictures do NOT do his beauty justice! We rescued him and his son, Lobo, from a high kill shelter in Texas before they were set to be euthanized for space in October. Unfortunately, Oso has been overlooked due to no fault of his own ever since and is STILL awaiting his forever home.

This well-behaved companion is affectionate and loves his people. He has no destructive tendencies inside or outside his foster's home. He is both crate and house trained, rarely barking except when outside in the yard. Oso sleeps peacefully in his crate at night and is a good traveler in the car. Oso prefers to be the sole recipient of love and attention OR with a large breed female dog. Cats and small dogs are likely not suitable companions due to his prey drive. He would do well in a home with kids and teenagers that know how to interact with large dogs and have respect for their boundaries!

With a moderate activity level, Oso enjoys walks of various lengths and may even enjoy hiking. A fenced yard or active lifestyle is ideal. He is strong on leash and is not trained to be off-leash. Oso responds to commands like “sit,” “stay,” “come,” “off” (for not jumping on his humans), and “heel” (for leash walking).

After overcoming heartworm disease with treatment, Oso is now completely healthy. His ideal forever home would be one where he can be the sole recipient of attention or share the attention with a large female dog. Oso is ready for a loving home to cherish and support him throughout his life. He has been waiting for his furever home for way too long and we would love for him to find it soon! Could that be you?

DISCLAIMER- Breed type is determined based on general appearance and behavioral characteristics and cannot be guaranteed unless DNA test results or AKC registration were provided at intake.

***OSO IS FOSTERED IN TEXAS, BUT AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION AND TRANSPORT OUT OF STATE. Read below for more information.
