Please note donations using the SPONSOR ME tab will not go to Fluffy Dog Rescue.

Our portal, Petfinder, has a section on the right side that says, "Considering this pet for adoption?" Please do not submit that, as we do not have the volunteer staff to answer these. Our website is very complete, and if you read it will answer any questions that you have.

MY AGE: approx. 4 years WEIGHT: approx. 75 lbs.

MY STORY: 12/23 Opal has been with us going on three weeks and she is settling in nicely. Things we have learned about her are:
1. She doesn’t seem to like laying on carpet. Definitely prefers the hardwood or the couch.
2. She is a bread bandit. She did a little counter surfing and left her treats alone but ate the half loaf of bread. All bread products are now stored in the pantry.
3. You will never need a doorbell with Opal around. True to her breed she likes to alert us when she senses “danger”.
4. She is a goofball once she starts playing with her toys and will bounce around. That usually only lasts a few minutes. Then it’s back to napping.
5. If you are eating something she thinks she might like, she’ll put a paw in your knee to let you know she is there to help.

10/7 Opal is a very sweet, beautiful 4 yr old, 75lb Great Pyrenees. She looks like she could be mixed with lab or golden retriever. Opal absolutely loves attention and is looking for a forever family that will love her as much as she will love you ????. And she will do anything for a belly rub!!

Opal is housebroken & crate trained. Treat motivated & she does wonderful with sit, stay, down & shake. She loves walks & hikes, though she does pull on leash, she also does a pretty good heel...when she wants to!
Opal has energy and loves to romp & run. But she is also a snuggler & a couch potato!

She would do well as an only dog or with a dog that matches her energy. Because of her size, a home without young children would be best. A fenced yard would be a dream for her, but not required with regular exercise.

Her owners in AL gave her up because they have moved into town and she keeps escaping. They also don't have time to exercise her.

Foster update 12/12: Opal has been with us for a little over a week now. She has made herself right at home. She is perfectly content to snooze away the day in her favorite spots in the house. Even though she has at least four dog beds to choose from, her favorite place to nap is on the floor between the living room and the kitchen. I think she likes it because she can keep an eye on the whole first floor. She is true to her breed and likes to keep watch on all of us.

We have also found that she is whip-smart. She came to us knowing to sit, stay, down, and shake. We have been working on improving some behaviors on walks and within just a few days she is making big improvements. I recently got her a puzzle toy since she likes work. It took her no time at all to figure out how to work it to get the treats. She's not a chewer. She does like to play with a couple of stuffed toys. It is funny to see this 75 lb floof tossing the toy around and bouncing up and down.

Opal is a sweet, funny, loving girl who just wants your love and some belly rubs. She likes to be near us but isn't one to snuggle for long. She does go in her crate but we have let her roam free and she has done just fine. She gets along with everyone, but because of her size and her occasional rambunctiousness, it's probably best she not be in a family with young kids.
