Meet Onyx
Hi! Onyx is my name because I'm as black as onyx and just as shiny. Just look at my coat! It's silky and soft. I have been in my foster home for two weeks now and am learning so very many things. I have mastered 'sit' though oh man that's a hard one when treats are involved! My foster brother and sister have taught me how to 'shake' and I'm learning the commands called 'down' and 'lay down'. I will do absolutely anything for a treat. I love learning new tricks and commands since my brain is still growing.
My foster siblings are big dogs and I LOVE playing with them so much. I've met children of all ages, though I'm still learning to not jump on the ones my size. I love all people and haven't met a stranger yet. I love to cuddle on laps and on the couch and with my foster siblings and am content to lay down after a good tussle session with my siblings. I like hard and soft toys to chew for my growing teeth and my favorite thing is to play with the dogs in my house.
I am very good in my crate during the day with the command 'inside' and a little treat to get me to go in. I don't cry when you leave and am quiet in my crate for a full 8-9 hours during the work day and don't have any accidents inside it. During the day, I know to go to the back door to go potty outside, but sometimes my foster mom has missed my cue and I had an accident. Those are fewer and fewer between and I've only had one for the last week! At night, I'll get a bit of FOMO (fear of missing out) and have to be coaxed to 'go to bed' which is the command I know to go into my crate and go to sleep. I sleep through the night, a full eight hours, which my foster mom is grateful for. (Why do humans need so much sleep???)
I've started to learn about a harness and walk on a leash. I've been told I'm doing very well with that and am starting to learn what 'let's go for a walk' means. It means I get to SNIFF and EXPLORE and I absolutely LOVE that. There's so many new smells and people to meet!
I've been told I'm incredibly sweet and loving and I would love to find my family and give them all of my love. Where are you? I'm waiting!
