Meet Old Lady April
This sweet and gentle 9-year-old Pit Bull Terrier has a heart of gold! At 60 pounds, she's a big, lovable companion who enjoys a peaceful, laid-back life. April is fully house-trained and prefers the simple things--short walks, cozy naps, and plenty of pets. She's happiest when she can lay near her humans, especially if she gets to snuggle up in bed with them at night, where she'll serenade you with the sweetest snores you've ever heard.
April isn't one for crates--she'd rather stretch out on a couch or by your feet. While she hasn't spent much time around kids, her gentle nature suggests she'd do best with older children who understand to be careful with her due to her arthritis. April's joints need a bit of extra care, so she takes daily joint supplements and would benefit from some pain management. April can use stairs, but struggles with more than a few stairs at a time.
When it comes to other animals, April is a sweetheart. She's friendly and easygoing around other dogs and has lived with cats before, showing little to no interest in them. Her interactions with other dogs on walks are equally calm and positive--she's more than happy to make new friends but never in an overbearing way.
April adores people and has a playful streak too. Give her a stuffy to shred or a Kong toy with a little peanut butter, and she'll be in heaven. Long walks aren't her thing, but she thoroughly enjoys frequent short strolls, followed by some sunbathing in the yard. If you have a fenced space, she'll love basking in the sunshine between walks, but a fence isn't a requirement for her--she's content staying close to her humans.
While April isn't much of a barker, she's more of a grunter and it's adorable. When you leave, she won't be destructive, but her sad little whimpers will break your heart. She's been through tough times -- so she doesn't like being left alone for too long. Car rides also make her nervous, likely due to past experiences, so she'll need lots of love and reassurance whenever she's in the car.
April is easygoing and made herself at home right away in her foster family's house. If you're looking for a loyal, low-maintenance companion who's happiest when surrounded by people, Old Lady April is the perfect match. With April, every day will feel like a cozy Sunday spent with a best friend.
