Nutmeg Cocker Spaniel & Chesapeake Bay Retriever Mix High Point, NC

Nutmeg’s breed is a mystery. She’s got the golden eyes and super soft, wavy fur of a Chessie but is the size of a cocker spaniel mix, about 25#, but she needs to gain a few. She has the most luxurious fur with lovely golden highlights. This unique and beautiful girl was so very neglected in her prior life that her owners didn’t even know if she was a girl or boy until she ended up giving birth to tiny, gorgeous puppies. We know there is a very wonderful girl inside, but right now she is so unused to human love and so terrified that she tries to stay very still and make herself small so that nothing bad will happen to her. She is so sweet and calm, accepting being petted with no problem, but so very shy that she can be afraid to move at times. We were told that she became quite comfortable with the children in her prior home and would enjoy playing with them. It is easy to tell that this tender little girl (estimated to be only about a year old) wants to feel confident and blossom but she will need a very special family who can work with her to free her from her fears. Though so uncertain in her new environment, she is still always very sweet and calm so we just know she’ll be a wonderful and happy dog someday. She will get plenty of opportunities to socialize here and we will work with her daily to help her feel loved and learn to be happy.
