*Please complete our adoption application at http://www.idogrescue.com/adoption_application(copy/paste URL into your browser).
*If you completed an adoption application in the last 3 months & would like for your application to be considered for Nala, please email us at rescue@idogdoodlerescue.org.

We will review your application & email you if you made our short list of applicants for her. Please respond within 24 hours if you receive an email from us about making our short list.
*You can check the status of her adoption at www.doodles.petfinder.com or any of our social media pages. We will change her status to adopted when she is adopted.
*We base our adoption decisions on what is in the best interest of our dogs. Please note our adoption policies are in place for the safety and welfare of our dogs. We are all volunteers and have jobs, families, pets of our own to care for. We do the best that we can to get back to you in a timely manner. We believe in taking time to go through our thorough process to try to match the dog with the best fit for that dog.
*You must be approved to adopt her before we will schedule a meet and greet. We do not transport our dogs.
*AGE: almost 8 years old (born February 2017)
*WEIGHT: 71 lbs. (could lose a few lbs. to be at her ideal weight)
*FENCE REQUIREMENT: A physical fence and a yard are recommended. No shock collars or invisible fences will be considered, as we do not feel these would set her up for success.
*COAT TYPE: soft curly low-shedding coat. Adopter should be prepared to have her groomed regularly with an estimated cost of $100/groom.
*ENERGY LEVEL: Nala is the perfect combo of energy – she has an older dog energy level. She likes to walk and play, but also loves to snuggle and relax.
*DOGS: Nala likes to play with other dogs. She prefers to be with humans though.
*CATS: unknown. She has had no exposure to cats in her foster home.
*KIDS: Nala has done well with the child in her foster home and is gentle with children. She is very sweet but does not really like to play with kids.
*CAR: Nala does well in the car. She usually just lays down and enjoy the ride!
*CRATE: Nala does not use a crate.
*HOUSE TRAINED: Yes! Nala is fully house trained.
*LEASH: Nala does well on a leash.
Nala was surrendered to IDOG from a family who loved her very much but could not provide the care that she needed.
Here is what Nala’s foster family has to say about her:
Nala is the absolute sweetest girl. She is very laid-back and just wants to chill with the family most of the time. She enjoys being near her people but will go upstairs by herself if she needs a little alone time.
Nala has some allergies and will require medication for them. She licks her paws a lot and we are not sure if it is an allergy issue, or if it is a self-soothing behavior. She is also prone to ear infections and will need to have her ears cleaned regularly and she will need to be watched for early signs of ear issues so she can get the medication she needs as early as possible. She responds well to her ear medication and her ear infections have cleared up quickly in her foster home.
Nala does not play with a lot of toys; she usually just relaxes and will occasionally try to get in your lap for some snuggles.
Nala will counter surf if given the opportunity. She has managed to get several items off the counter in her foster home and has even jumped a gate to get to food. She gives herself away though, when she sniffs to see what is on the table she will grunt like a pig, so when we are home, we always know she is searching for food! She has also eaten tomatoes right off the vine when she was helping to check the garden! She loves to eat!
Nala does not do well with grooming. She does not like scissors, or the clippers and will run and hide as soon as she sees them come out! We had to give her some calming medication to get her groomed. She does not like her paws to be messed with and will pull away when we have tried to trim her feet. As she has grown to trust us, she has gotten a little better, but still will not sit for long. She needs a family that will work with her and will be patient with her and do what she needs to feel comfortable with grooming.
Nala is a little overweight and still has a few pounds to lose. She will need a family that will help her exercise and give her a high-quality weight management food.
Nala is spayed, microchipped, and current on core vaccines. Her fecal and heartworm tests were negative and she is on heartworm/flea/tick preventives.
ADOPTION FEE: $300 adoption fee
ADOPTION FEE EXPLANATION:
Puppies and highly adoptable dogs have a higher adoption fee to help IDOG cover the vetting and expenses of the other dogs in IDOG whose adoption fees do not cover their expenses. Our expenses are very high these days due to increased vetting expenses, board and train costs, medical/health issues and surgery that is needed for some of our dogs. IDOG relies heavily on donations to bridge the gap between our adoption fees and our expenses. Unfortunately, donations are down across the board for all rescues.
