Hi, my name is Murphy. I want to tell you a bit about me and the home that will be perfect for me. As you know, I am a Great Pyrenees. I can be a faithful and solid companion to the right person or family, but I need people who will understand my breed. If you think of me as a mature, beautiful, sensible and serious introvert you are on the right track. I am an intense and serious fellow who lives to do the job of guarding my humans and their home. I can learn to accept new people and pets with a little time and respect. I enjoy being with my humans, napping, and alerting to anything unusual.

I do not enjoy playing, loud noises, new places, or chaos. I can be fine with older children and with cats and dogs if they are respectful of my boundaries. I'll even play with them a little, too! I need groomed a few times a year, but otherwise I am very easy to care for. I do not need much exercise, and I am very respectful of my family's property. I ride well in vehicles and do not steal food or chew things.
I am very large and strong, and I will need to investigate all threats so the person holding my leash needs to be a match for my strength. I am NOT a white golden retriever, or a children's toy, I may seem silly at times but I demand respectful treatment from all people. For the right people, I will be an absolute pleasure to partner with. Please let me know what you think!

Murphy is a 4 year old Great Pyrenees, 100 lbs, He came to Furry Friends Network in April 2022 and was in foster care until he was adopted in February 2023. While in foster care Murphy lived with another dog and younger children and did fine. Since Murphy left us, he has lived as a single dog and with older kids, with whom he seems to struggle. Murphy would be best in an adult home, where he can get regular car rides and has the opportunity to hang out in a fenced yard. He is quite lazy but tolerates a 10-15 minute walk a couple of times daily. Murphy is a typical Great Pyrenees who will be your personal body guard. If you are in search of a big dog who will keep you safe, please apply for Murphy!
