Date of birth: 6/24/2019
10/16/2021: Morris is a super cute American Staffordshire! He’s 2 years old and weighs 64 lbs currently. Morris LOVES people and loves attention! He’s sweet natured and very affectionate. He's not shy about asking for attention! He's very good at giving us the "aren't you going to pay attention to me?" look!
• Sadly, Morris's left rear leg had an old break and healed poorly. The head of the femur was shattered. He had FHO surgery to repair it, but a small bone fragment prevented the leg from healing as we'd hoped so his leg was amputated. Morris is much happier to move around pain free! He can walk up and down steps without any trouble.
• Morris wants to be the only pet in the home, and deserves to be the center of human attention.
• He loves food and treats and takes treats gently.
• He walks nicely on a leash.
• He’s had a hard life and will need someone patient to help him adjust to living in a house, work with him on house training, etc.
• Morris could live with kids over 8 years old who have lived with large dogs and who know how to appropriately and respectfully interact with dogs.
• Morris loves walks and play time in the yard, but his favorite thing is giving and receiving affection from humans. He's quite the "ladies man".
• He likes to chew Nylabones, play with rope toys, squeaky and plush toys. He does not chew up bedding or blankets in his kennel.
• Morris has been neutered, vaccinated, microchipped and tested for heartworms. He’s a real sweetheart and will be a loving and loyal companion.
MORE ON ADOPTING OUR DOGS...
Thanks for considering adopting a rescue pet through the Humane Society of Greater Kansas City!
Here’s what to expect when you adopt a pet:
• Complete and submit your online application.
• A member of our staff will review your information and contact you to schedule an appointment.
• Your appointment will include a conversation with an adoption counselor and ample time to visit the pet of your choice or one of our other adoptable pets. Keep in mind that some of our pets are in our facility while others are with foster parents.
• Once you have made the decision to adopt a pet, we will reserve him or her for you. If your pet has had a recent bath and wellness check by our veterinarian, you can take him or her home the same day! In other cases, we will need to arrange pick up a day or two later. Our goal is to send you home with a healthy pet!
• In addition to having the support of our staff you’ll receive information (and coupons) to help your new pet adjust to his or her new home.
• We also have leashes, collars, toys and other supplies available.
About healthy pets:
• All of our dogs & puppies have been spayed or neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed, treated for fleas & ticks, tested for heartworms (7 mo. and over), and are on monthly heartworm preventative.
• Puppies who are too young to receive all the necessary puppy boosters and/or first rabies shot may be brought back to us for those vaccines at no extra charge.
Covid-19:
• Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, we are taking all necessary precautions to keep our staff and clients safe. This includes wearing masks and limiting the number of people inside our shelter at any given time.
We look forward to hearing from you soon!
