Morgan Doberman Pinscher Harahan, LA

Strange things happen in rescue. Some dogs come
with unbelievable stories. Morgan checks every
category of unusual. He was found by Animal Control laying
injured by the side of a road - they thought he had
been hit by a car. Upon examination, it turned out
that he had been shot multiple times!  Jefferson
Parish AC, Metairie Small Animal Hospital, Abadies
Veterinary Hospital and GCDR collaborated to save
his life. His attending surgeon was named ‘Morgan’
- we named him after her. Morgan has been
through a lot - two bullets were removed from his
head. He has recovered from the trauma and is
ready to become a family member. That he still
wants to trust people is downright amazing -
testimony to the resilience of the breed.

Morgan is an easy dog to have around. He is intelligent -
figures things out very fast. He learned our
household routines at warp speed. He is obedient,
crate trained and respectful inside the house. He is
playful with other dogs and is high energy.  He is heartworm
negative, up to date on vaccines and
neutered. He is estimated to be around 2-3 years
old. Cropped and one ear flopped weighing about
80 lbs and will probably end up around 90. He is a
sweet boy. We always wonder how did such a great
dog end up in this situation? If only Morgan could
talk — he has a story to tell. Morgan is ready to
start a new life with people that would never ever
shoot him and will keep him secure and safe from
harm.  The shelter did a little cat test and thought
he was too focused on the cat to deem him cat
safe. We also don’t specifically know about
children but see nothing about him that would make
us concerned that he cannot live with older children.
Of course, he would need to meet his entire
adoptive family to see if he approves and if they are
a good fit for him.

Although someone tried to take his life – he was
