Meet Moose
1/4/24:
Foster to adopt homes needed!
*Moose's name says it all, he is a tank. He will likely be a big boy when full grown. A bit stubborn at times, at least he's cute, but he can be a bit of a bully if left to his own devices. He would do great in an active family with time enough to dedicate to some training and would likely thrive if someone wanted to do obedience with him. Moose would likely do very well in a home with a doggie sibling to show him the ropes and let him know that taking turns is good, patience goes a long way and you don't always have to eat the whole bowl of food yourself. He's a work in progress:)*
Introducing our first litter of the new year, Momma Millie and the Baby M's!
Millie was found as a stray in Kentucky, very pregnant and in need of rescue. By the time transport day came, Millie went in to labor and she had 8 Puppies! so she was held behind in boarding for just over a month until it was safe to transport her and the babies North with another litter we were taking. All arrived safe and Mama Millie went into a foster home for a few more weeks until her babies were weaned and ready to be separated into smaller groups in foster. Last week, the litter was devided into two groups of four so that they could still learn some valuable social skills before finally going to homes of their own.
Now that the Baby M's are going on 8 weeks old, they are ready to find foster to adopt homes of their own! Moma Millie is a terrier mix of some kind, 35# and pretty stalky. She almost looks like she has Shih Tzu or Sheep Dog in her and perhaps some other larger terrier breed. She has a very sweet and gentle disposition and will be looking for a foster to adopt home of her own very soon, too. Dad was rumored to be working at the local coal mine and not much for long term commitment, so your guess is as good as ours and to what these puppies are. Judging by mom, we believe they will probabaly be 30-50# full grown and have an active terrier personality.
Having the 8 pups together for the first 6 weeks has left some more dominant then others and all are very food motivated. They are strong, active pups so will do best in active homes willing to show them the ropes, start their training and give them the tools they need to grow in to happy, well adjusted puppies. Bios about each can be found below their pics:)
Everyone meet Mojo, Moose, Merlin, Maverick, Major, Mitzie, Mya and Midge, our M Babies!
We will be reviewing applications the next few days and would like to set up meet and greets toward the end of this week.
Due to their current age, size and energy levels, foster to adopt requirements are:
-Living within 80 miles of Adams, NY so follow up veterianary visits can made until they are spay/neutered and ready to be adopted.
-Having previous/current pets in annually at a local veterinary office and up to date on vaccines as well as spay/neutered.
-Since they are puppies, they should be ok with both dog savy cats and active dogs in the home.
-Due to their current size and disposition, we are looking for homes with children over 5 years old.
-Willing to have current dogs/family members come to a meet and greet to meet the pet and be sure an acceptable match.
-Having time available to care for, socialize and start training of a new pet.
-Preference will be given to homes with previous dog experience.
An adoption donation of $450 is being asked when their adoption is finalized in 4-6 weeks after they are spay/neutered to cover a portion of her veterinary and care fees.
Please help us to continue helping those that knock on our doors!
