Monty Boxer & Labrador Retriever Mix Charlotte, NC

Hello! My name is Monty, and I'm a handsome mutt. We are not sure what my breed is, but we are thinking something in the families of Boxer, Lab, Pit and maybe even Cane Corso. I have striking black fur and white markings. At just over a year old, I weigh a solid 79 pounds and have been neutered, vaccinated, and tested negative for heartworm. I'm house-trained and crate-trained, and I'm currently working on my leash manners.

I'm a high-energy, loyal, and food-driven pup who knows how to sit and lay down, and I'm working on wait and stay. I absolutely love car rides and adventures, and I'm always up for a game of fetch with my favorite ball. During walks, I like to sit down and lean against my walking buddy for some loving, and I have a unique way of talking with a howling voice to my people. I'm also a big fan of cuddling on the couch or chaise lounge.

I'd be great with older children due to my size and energy, and I'm friendly with other dogs through barriers, wagging my tail rapidly. However, I may need a big playmate who can handle my size and energy, and I might resource guard food and toys from other dogs. I'm not good with cats or small animals, so a home without them would be best for me.

I've had some challenges in the past, like spinning and attacking my tail, which caused a severe injury. But thanks to my rescue, I had my tail partially docked, and with regular exercise, I'm no longer spinning or chasing my tail. I need a home that can provide me with the exercise I need to continue my journey toward becoming a well-mannered dog. I would thrive in an active home and would make a great hiking partner or possibly an agility dog. I love to leap like a deer when running in the yard, and a half-hour of chasing a ball wears me out if we can't go for a walk. A fenced-in yard would be ideal for me, especially a taller one since I'm such a big boy.
