Meet Momma Dory
My foster mom calls me her 'diamond in the rough' but she tells me I am now starting to sparkle. I have been working really hard on learning to trust people. It has taken me a long time as I have a tendency to bark when someone comes into my comfortable zone. Lately I have done amazing with strangers coming into the house as I love getting treats so have been taking them gently and allowing people I don't know pet me. My foster mom is so proud of me. And I am Proud of me!
I still struggle on leash, as I pull but I am working on loose leash walking skills. I am just so happy to be out that I want to sniff so I forget someone is at the other end of my leash. So far I haven't been bothered people and dogs walking by when I am on a leash.
I am really good in the car and hey, I just learned to jump and out by myself. My mom says thank goodness and lifting me was quite a feat. Love love love going to the dog park. So far we have only used private dog parks, where I am learning recall skills, and spending a bit of time on a leash to practice during my play times. I see dogs and people on the other side of the dog park and I love to play chase with them along the fence and love to explore and chase with my foster families dogs. I am besties with two dogs in the house and we love to play. I have a lot of energy so love to play, but when mom says that is enough, I love to go snuggle on the couch.
When I came in I was the biggest counter server; but can you blame me as I was starving. I now have polite manners and don't do that, and I sit and wait for my own food.
It may take time to settle in with a new family but if you are willing, you won't be disappointed as we can work on my confidence together. Once I love you, look out - because I am your best and loyal friend.
A calmer home would probably be the best for me and I do love the outdoors.
