Mister Santiago is a marvelously happy Staffordshire Terrier mix in need of a permanent home. He is very people oriented and aims to please. He speaks some English and responds well to sit, paw, down, and roll over for much adored belly scratches. Mister Santiago is most agreeable on a leash and gets along with other large dogs. Since being pulled out of the shelter earlier this year, he has only been exposed to other large dogs so we have no information on how he might get on with smaller dogs, cats or children. He would probably do well, but 65 lbs. of muscle would need to be considered.

Mister Santiago is approximately 6 years old and comes with all the trimmings; neutered, micro chipped, current on all vaccines.

Backstory: Several months ago, a man distressed that his wife and children left him decided to take it out on the family dog and tied Mister Santiago to a bush in a secluded area behind a drugstore in Lodi CA. Three days later, a good-hearted person posted a need for help online. The marvelous Lodi Police Department ensured safe transport for this emaciated, dejected & despondent dog to the shelter. Knowing that he was safe, and food and water were guaranteed, his friendly and happy personality was quick to resurface. In order to get him to a more nurturing environment, he was relocated to a MARVELOUS dog training/shelter-rescue facility in Northern California, where he runs free, playing with other dogs and learning good manners in anticipation of finding a forever loving home. He is currently being fostered in Grass Valley, CA.
