Meet Minnie
Meet Minnie, she is a smart and athletic dog with a friendly and playful personality. Minnie came to us from via the VPD and is now on the hunt for her forever home.
Minnie has been at the shelter for several months now and it is taking a toll on her. Her heart is fullest when around kind and caring people , cuddling and crawling into laps. She desperately wants a full time person or people to share her big heart and huge sense of humor with ?
One of our volunteers recently took her to her apartment for a sleepover. And did Minnie ever sleep!!
Minnie is reportedly a wonderful sleeping companion. She doesn’t snore or steal all the covers. She is happy to sleep in and really enjoyed morning cuddle time. As did our volunteer!?
Minnie really needed some one on one time and attention. She loved her sleepover and was an exemplary guest….
Minnie is housebroken.
Slept thru the night.
Did not try to drink the morning coffee!
Or beg at the table.
She entertained herself while our volunteer got ready for her day.
She played with toys and napped in bed until it was time to really start the day.
Minnie is great in the car and jumps right in ready to go.?
Minnie really puts her trust in you once she knows you.
She looks to you for guidance, reassurance in new situations and is eager to please. Minnie looks to her person in new or stressful situations for reassurance.
She will actually nudge you with her nose when she feels overwhelmed. Or needs extra guidance. ?
She just needs to meet her person or people!
Minnie prefers human companionship to animal friends in her living space.
We don’t think she met many other animals before coming to us. She will bark at other dogs if they bark at her. She has been working on that and is doing really well with redirection and positive reinforcement! She can pull on leash, but, again is working on that and doing well!
Other Dogs: Best solo
Cats: No
Kids: Yes but older 16+
Apartments: No, too reactive to other dogs
Walks: Good walker
New People: Yes
Other notes: Minnie will not do well in a busy urban environment with lots of dogs and will not be a dog park candidate
