Meet Milton
He is very mild mannered and quick to bond with a person. Most of his time is spent laying down in whichever room a person is in. He can be playful, but not rough. He gets along well with small children (introduced to my nieces of 1.5 and 4 years old) and dogs (introduced to others encountered on leash while walking and foster parents' pomeranian puppy, also a golden doodle, and a labrador mix). He played chase and rope toy tug-o-war with the labrador and didn't try to impose himself on the other dogs.
Milton is already house broken, harness trained, and responds well to basic "sit" and "come here" commands. He hasn't reacted negatively to unexpected touches or when the foster interjects himself while he's eating or chewing anything.
While he eats his meals in full and enjoys treats, he doesn't seem tremendously food-driven. We expect he can be further trained with minimal effort.
Milton was first encountered by Gail, a blind woman, while walking with her seeing-eye dog Dante. He followed along with them on walks for a week or so before taking him in. (Milton is named for the writer of Paradise Lost, to follow along with "Dante" as the writer of Inferno - both epic poems inspired by Virgil's works and concepts from the Bible.)
Milton’s foster takes him for a half-hour walk each morning and in the evening. He eats Hill's Science Diet for Adults (chicken and barley recipe) - about 2 cups and another 2 cups at 5:30pm.
Milton has been neutered, microchipped, and fully vaccinated. He is on monthly heartworm / flea / tick preventative medication.
