Mila happens to be another one of our #DifferentlyAbled dogs in our rescue. She had to have an eye removed before coming into foster, but that does not slow her down at all. There are several different ways to describe her, lovable, clown, and cuddle-bug usually top the charts. Are you interested in hearing more?
Milas foster said that if Mila was a human she would probably be the class clown at your local Kindergarten. She is a very young dog that has the whole world ahead of her and boy is she ready to explore it! From the beginning of her time in foster care, she has wanted to please her person more than anything, well maybe not more than playing. #BallOfGoofyEnergy We do not know much about her past, she is super sweet and shows quite a bit of caution when adjusting to new environments. Some of that can be attributed to learning how to live life with only one eye, it has to be a hard adjustment for anyone, both human or dog to change the way they live due to vision loss.
She loves riding in cars and watching the world out her window, if it is a longer ride, she usually just lies down and takes a nap until she gets to her destination. Also, at the vets office, she was great and the whole staff loved her. Loud noises usually startle her, and she is cautious after the noise, possibly due to her reduced field of vision. When out and about she has yet to meet a person she hasnt loved, and who doesnt love a goofy puppy? Around kids, she has been fine, as long as they enjoy some slobbery Mila kisses. Additionally, she has met horses and cats but does not show much interest in either of them and might be confused as to what they are. Around other dogs, there needs to be some patience on both sides, as introductions should be slow and supervised.
During Milas time in foster care, she has just been working on general house manners and how to act right around people and other animals. There are some naughty habits that need to be nipped in the bud which are counter surfing, she loves food and will snatch anything she thinks smells good. Most of the other things are standard puppy habits, what you can and cant chew on, how to ask to go potty outside, and sleeping through the night. #ImagineA43PoundToddler For training time she loves being rewarded with praise and food, and crate training is a work in progress.
Mila is looking for a forever home that understands that she is a puppy and will require continued training to be an amazing adult dog. She does great in her active foster home and really could excel in probably any home environment. For living with kids, it is probably best for ages 5 and up or respectful older kids. Another dog would be great for her to have in the home as well. So, if you are looking for a mid-age puppy that can be molded into the best dog ever, and comes with a built-in pirate costume #AggggMatey look no further than Mila.
