Mickey Rat Terrier Hayesville, NC

I can't tell you enough good about this adorable little boy. He's guessed to be a Rat Terrier mix. He's 5 years old and weighs 21 pounds. Mickey is pretty much perfect. He gets along with everyone, especially cats. In his last home, he snuggled with the cats and played with the dogs. He's housebroken, never makes a mess, and quiet. Mickey is fully vetted, micro-chipped, and HW negative. This little dog loves attention, gives gentle kisses, and he's snuggly. He thinks blankets are some of the most wonderful things in the world. He'd prefer his people to be around more than not but he's well-behaved if he has to stay home alone and wait. While we've not seen him with any young children we just can't imagine him being anything less than wonderful with anyone who pays attention to him.
Mickey's favorite thing in the world has cost him TWO homes. And that's the fault of the owners, not him. He didn't do anything wrong. His last two homes did not have fenced yards and his people would let him out to go potty without supervising him. You see, Mickey LOVES to go for car rides. So when saw an opportunity at his first home, he ran down to the store, hopped in a car, and refused to get out. The driver tracked down the owner a few days later. But since his mom has 12 other dogs and he was doing so well with the new lady, they agreed to let him stay. It was great for a few months but when his new mom's kids would get home from school, they also let the dogs out unsupervised and Mickey did the same thing again, THREE times! He ran down to the gas station and just got into a stranger's car. Mom #2 decided since the dog was easier to train than her teenagers, it would be in Mickey's best interest to be in a more controlled environment.
Mickey needs an owner who will supervise him when he's outdoors and has a fenced yard for him to play in. He's asked that we please also try to find him a home where they have lots of blankets and his parents will take him for frequent rides. And BTW, he behaves perfectly in public!
