Meet Micah

Meet Micah!!

Micah is a beautiful young man who will be 1 yrs old June 24th.He is 3/4 Cream Retriever & 1/4 Yellow Lab. In November we took him into our home when he was 5 months old. It seems he grew up outside in the barn with dad and siblings. He was very friendly with us. At our home he was timid around new people and other dogs and in general new things. He has since done very well. He greets people now with enthusiasm. He came to our home meeting my adult son’s dog, Halle, a 3 1/2 yr old female Rotweiller. They have learned about each other and get along well in general. Behaving most of the time. As Micah gets older, Halle seems more territorial and protective of her home. Halle at times is more aggressive than is healthy for either of them.
Micah is very energetic and is also learning how to calm down and relax. Loves attention and requires much attention due to his need to be busy. He is still in the chewing mode but much better than 4 months ago. He is crate trained and will sleep in it all night. Requires some time outs also. He has had basic training at Cedarwoods. Needs continued work of course barely being 1 yr old.He walks well on a leash. Up to date on all shots, chipped and neutered. He has gorgeous dark brown/black eyes with golden eyelashes.
We obtained Micah originally for my daughter with moderate learning disabilities and anxiety who is very high functioning and has always helped with our dogs we’ve had in the past. Micah was more than she could handle being a retriever/lab. It actually increased her anxiety and she felt bad. I then took over the main care while she helped. Since February I myself have had a couple physical challenges. Rotator cuff repair in March. Also injured hip and walking is painful. We are also planning on making a big move out of the area. With all that said we feel it is best for all of us (though very hard and sad) to find a great home for Micah where he can grow and be happy.I t would be nice if he could be with another dog.He has never been without another dog to romp with.
