Meet Mcallister
Meet McAllister—he’s been returned 5 times. Yes, 5. And it’s not because he’s a bad dog. He’s simply a challenge. Akitas are known for their stubbornness, and need for firm, consistent training. McAllister fits that bill perfectly.
Here’s the Deal with McAllister :
He’s a stunning dog with a sweet face that looks like he walked straight out of a Pixar film. At the shelter, he’s an energetic, playful puppy who LOVES attention, toys, and snuggles. Put your face in his and he will meet you with kisses. He’s crate-trained and good to go when it comes to his basic needs. But here’s the kicker: McAllister has been returned for things like housing issues, allergies, and, most often, being called “too much” or “untrainable.”
After being adopted and returned, McAllister has developed separation anxiety. He fears being abandoned and it’s taking a toll on him. It’s clear that he’s acting out of fear and frustration—his cycle of being adopted and taken back has chipped away at his confidence.
This Will Be a Challenge.
McAllister has that Akita in him. He’s hard headed and now anxious. He needs formal training—no, 5 days won’t cut it. He needs structure, consistency, and firm yet compassionate care, along with patience. He won’t magically become “perfect” overnight, and anyone looking for an easy, low-maintenance dog needs to keep scrolling.
McAllister will NOT thrive in an unstable environment or one where people give up too easily. He’s not a dog for first-timers or anyone unwilling to put in the hard work. He needs someone who gets him—someone ready for a challenge and willing to put in the effort to help him become the loyal, loving companion he’s capable of being.
What McAllister Needs:
Experience with Akitas.
Patience, structure, and consistent training.
A stable home with no quick fixes or unrealistic expectations.
Someone ready to stick it out and give him the time he needs to become his best self.
If you’re ready for the challenge and have the experience to handle an Akita, McAllister could be your perfect companion. But know this: It’s going to be work. If you’re up for it, call us or stop by to talk with one of our staff members about this young man.
