Meet May May
The truth is that we don't always know what a dog has been through before it shows up somewhere without anyone looking for it.
We do know at least some about why our girl here needed rescuing. This is May May, who is about 4 years old and weighs 45 pounds. The animal control in her area in Missouri tried and tried to help her and catch her for 2 months before they finally got her on a leash. May May didn't know what she was running FROM, and she didn't know that that day was the beginning of a fresh start for her.
Now, she's in a foster home and re-learning about life and how grand it can actually be. May May LOVES toys, and she loves to play, and we love that for her. Not only is it lonely and scary when you're on the run, but there are definitely no toys!
She does great on a leash and likes to go for walks. She gets along great with other dogs and is a lovely playmate. We don't know her whole story, but we can guess by her timidity that she didn't have the best life with people before she was rescued. She takes a little while to warm up to folks - treats help a ton! - and she's still unsure about the men she's met overall. Her foster is working with her to know that guys are great doggie friends, too.
With her treat motivation and overall demeanor, we think May May will be great to train and can become a confident, content May May. She should probably be in a home without kids. If you like toy shopping and you enjoy watching a dog be absolutely delighted by a new toy, you and May May are meant to be.
Look at her beautiful, sincere brindle face, and tell us that she shouldn't have the most wonderful new life, full of all the toys. She's crate-trained and sleeps well in there at night. She's mostly house-trained, as she gets the lay of the land.
May May is spayed, vaccinated, microchipped and current on heartworm preventative and flea/tick prevention. Her adoption fee is $175. Rescue her by applying to adopt at PawsitiveTailsKC.org.
