Good with other dogs? We have 2 other dogs, yorkshire terrier (11 years) and maltese (12 years).. These dogs do get along but Max requires time/patience get use to other new pets.
Good with cats? Never been around cats.
Good with children? Max requires time to get use to new people. Once he does he loves the attention. however, anyone new he barks and must be held firmly. New guest must be allowed to come close to him (while he is secured) so he can smell / lick their hands. Afterwards he is fine. This our routine with max.
Housebroken? He lets you know he has to got outside. During the day alone he can have "potty" accidents.
Crate Trained? When we first got him (18 months old) we tried to crate train him but he was too stubborn.
Has your dog lived primarily indoors or outdoors? indoors
Temperament? Max requires time to get use to new people. Once he does he loves the attention. however, anyone new he barks and must be held firmly. New guest must be allowed to come close to him (while he is secured) so he can smell / lick their hands. Afterwards he is fine. This our routine with max.
Behavioral Issues: He is a very agressive dog to NEW people. Anyone walking past our house he barks nonstop. As discussed above he needs to time to know new people. There was an event where he managed to open the garage door from the kitchen while we were at the store. when we returned and opened the garage door max ran out and jumped towards our neighbors friend. He received a small scratch but it was from his teeth. Fort Worth animal control came out to inform us we needed to quarantine him for 30 days. they acknowledged it was a small scratch but technically this event must go through the process. Nothing has happen since then. Im not sure how to look up this event on the fort worth city website
Reason for Surrender? we are getting a divorce (final divorce decree to be signed soon). Our current residence has been sold and I am required to move out 3/23. I am moving to an apartment and my soon to be ex-wife currently has an apartment. a large dog is not allowed to live with either of us at any of those properties. We tried locating a home for him on our own without success.
