MY STORY: Max is an 8-month-old, 35 pound Dalmatian mix who came into the rescue as a Alabama stray with his sister. His sister has been adopted and her family adores her, now it’s Max’s time to find his family! I’ve been fostering Max for 5 days and I’ve learned so much about him already other than the fact he’s adorable with the most unique coloring.
• Loves attention and pets from people, his whole body will wag back and forth when he gets excited to see people. He loves giving kisses and cuddling.
• Enjoys going for walks outside. He surprised me with how well he walks on the leash. Occasionally he will pull when he gets walking fast but with practice and training that will improve.
• I would say he is 95% potty trained. He knows to do his business outside and will pee and poop right away when he is taken outside. Only one pee accident inside.
• Sleeps in his crate at night without a peep
• Has that wonderful puppy energy but also knows how to relax as well. He loves sprawling out on the couch with all his stuffed toys and bones around him.
• I took him to the dog park yesterday and he was a little scared/shy at first but then opened up and loved running around. He seemed to like dogs that were smaller than him. A larger dog came to my apartment yesterday for a few hours and he became comfortable quickly and was wagging his tail and trying to play.
•He has a sore on his the top of his paw (you can see on the first photo) that appears to be a wart but we are monitoring it, it does not hurt him when I touch it but he does lick it so I’ve been wrapping with gauze sometimes.
I can’t say enough amazing things about Max. If you are looking for a playful loving companion, he is the perfect boy!

To adopt the FIRST STEP is to complete an APPLICATION.
Adopters must be 24 years of age. We can not adopt to families with children under the age of six. We also only adopt in WI, IL, and parts of MN. Most of our dogs are strays, so the breed is our best guess.
