Max came to TAGS from someone who has been fostering Max since July. He was surrendered to her foster mom by a person living on the streets who could no longer take care of him. Unfortunately, how this homeless person acquired him is still unknown but after further investigation and a vet visit we now know that he is CKC Registered and chipped.
Max is a handsome big boy who has become quite close and protective to his foster family. The German Shepherd is one of the finest all purpose working dog breeds. He is loyal, confident, muscular and extremely intelligent. As such, he is very easy to train. He will need someone who can provide him with lots of exercise and mental stimulation. Max loves his walks and responds with much excitement when asked if he wants to go. He is very alert and those darn squirrels or bunny rabbits can pose a challenge when attempting to keep him under control.
Max loves playing with his many toys, especially ones that squeak. He enjoys running after them when they are tossed but instead of bringing the object back, he prefers that you try and chase him for it. He is very agile and loves the challenge. Tug of war is also another game he likes playing with his rope and tire.

Max knows sit, here, and at times shake a paw when he is less excited. This boy is a very enthusiastic eater and loves his treats and bones as well. Like many dogs, he does not like to be disturbed when he is enjoying one of his bones.

This boy loves his car rides! Max is unsure about other dogs and kids, but his foster family are currently working on this. His perfect home will be with an active person or couple with a large fenced in yard who are willing to include him in their daily activities. He will need to be brushed and bathed regularly in order to keep his skin and coat looking fabulous.
