Meet Max, a handsome, lovable, and goofy boy looking for a home filled with fun and lots of love! Max is full of energy and enjoys running and playing with both humans and other dogs. He particularly enjoys playing with older kids who can throw toys for him, and he's good about bringing them back. Max is a smart boy who would benefit from training and learning tricks. Positive, treat-driven training would work best for him as he is a sensitive dog. Although Max has shown some signs of past mistreatment, he has made significant progress and has become more comfortable with gentle touch and love. Nevertheless, due to his sensitivity, it's not recommended for Max to be adopted into a home with young children, as he may not respond well to mischievous behavior or boundary-pushing.

While Max can be nervous around strangers, he quickly becomes comfortable and is very affectionate. He loves attention, snuggling, and is known to do a happy dance with butt wiggles when his humans return home. Max may need to be crated when left alone for long periods to prevent any puppy mischief, such as shredding cardboard or counter surfing. He has been cat-tested and did well.

Max's ideal home would be with an active family or individual and possibly with another playful dog as a companion. Max's foster Mom sees great potential in him to become a well-behaved and social family member in a loving and caring home. Could you be the one to give Max the loving home he deserves? We do require a home visit and a veterinarian reference. Please contact your veterinarian to give them permission to release information to us. Once we have reviewed your application and received a favorable reference from your veterinarian, our adoption coordinator will contact you. Please be patient as this process could take several days.
