Maui Shiba Inu Toms River, NJ

Maui is up for adoption here at Shiba Rescue of New Jersey.
Maui is spayed, up to date on vaccines, microchipped and heartworm negative. She's a beautiful Black and Tan girl who is estimated to be between 2-4 years old. We feel she's on the younger side.

May Maui's "Force Be With You!"
Aloha this is Maui. She is an approximately 2-4 year old lady Shiba. Maui came to us through Homeward Bound Shelter. She was diagnosed w/both Kennel Cough and Lyme disease. Maui has been on antibiotics for a month, & has put those difficulties behind her. She was also recently spayed, & has had all the vaccines needed for her age. Maui is easy-going when visiting her Vet.
She is one of the sweetest, calmest, most affectionate ? Shiba's we have ever met. Maui will sit in your lap, & enjoy petting for hours (if you have the time) she'll share the love!
She can be, naughty at times. (Shiba right)? If you have children with favorite stuffies, don't leave them out, when you go out! She is also like an Olympic Gold medal ? pole vaulter! Maui set a world record in how high she can jump over gates. *She would do best in a home with a 6 - foot fenced in yard.
Maui has been trained to use a crate. We can't say she loves it when locked in. But, due to her ability to leap over 4 feet in a single bound, we have done that with her when we are out for a bit. She enjoys sleeping in her crate, with the door unlocked. She'll stay inside all night. She has also been trained to use our doggie door, and she walks well on a leash. Wow, is she terrific on car rides! You won't even remember she's with you. We click her into the back seat, & she enjoys the ride. (We've taken her on 2 hour rides).
A few important things to be aware of:
1. She is wonderful with other dogs on walks, or in other dogs homes. *She is however reactive, and potentially be territorial in her own home. We feel Maui would do best as an only pet.
2. She interacts with children super well, so if you have kids that would be fabulous! Our granddaughters adore her.
3. She does not do well in the heat we've experienced this summer. If it is over 90°, we allow her in the yard for 10 minutes, then bring her inside. She is a lot of fun in the yard though. She'll play catch with you & make you ? LOL
If you desire a pup ? ?? who heaps affection on her family, Maui girl is the Shiba for you. P.S. you'll love her thick silky coat, and that tail is a curly wonder!
