Meet Margaret
? Margaret ?
2 year old, Spayed Female, 40 lbs
McNab Shepherd mix (best guess)
PERSONALITY TRAITS: Margaret is a very expressive and entertaining girl. She is smart and figures out things very quickly. She didn't seem to have much training before coming to her foster home, but is true to her breeding with her love of the outdoors and bursts of energy. She has learned to patiently hold down the couch cushions between outdoor excursions and has just begun to learn how to take neighborhood walks, and is very good on leash (except for when she sees a squirrel). She loves to cuddle with the humans at night, and burrows her face under the covers into your armpit to be close.
LIKES: Chasing squirrels, treats, playing with her pups, and being outside
DISLIKES: Being left out of the fun, being in a crate, and she isn't sure about car rides yet
POTTY TRAINING: Fully trained and will signal to go outside
CRATE TRAINING: Not her favorite place, but she will go in with a good treat and chew, but overall is good in the house when left alone.
EXTRA/MISC: MARGARET was found near an abandoned building on a Reservation in California. She had likely been fending for herself after giving birth to her five pups. She therefore has a bit of prey drive, especially for squirrels. She hasn't chased the cats in her foster home if they didn't run. But if something runs, she will chase. MARGARET is also a bit of an escape artist and needs a strong fence and good supervision when outside (dog door not recommended). She seems to be used to making her own way in a rural environment and city/neighborhood life is new to her. She is wary of cars on walks and overall needs time and training to truly flourish. She is very sweet and very trusting of humans and has gotten along well with multiple other dogs and visiting dogs in her foster home. She is learning Come, Sit, Lay Down, and Off and is very treat motivated. The best part about MARGARET is how she "talks" to you about what she needs or wants. She is very expressive and tries hard to communicate with her humans. She happily sleeps in a dog bed near the humans in her foster home.
