Meet Mabel

Female, 4 yrs old, 42lbs (underweight)

Personality: adaptable, affectionate, easygoing, good running partner, adventurous, goofy/funny, mischievous, playful, energetic, snuggler, rambunctious, and smart.

Mabel makes it impossible not to have a smile on your face when you're around her. She'll greet you every morning with tail wags and kisses, and her favorite thing is a rousing game of tug or chase, followed by a snuggle in the nearest available lap. Next on Mabel's list of fun activities is taking long nose-to-the-ground walks, and is wonderful in the car if you want to take her on an adventure farther from home (she won't even complain about a bath after!).

Mabel's foster says she is great with the resident dog -- she ALWAYS wants to play but understands when the feeling isn't reciprocated. Mabel also knows to give other dogs space, especially on the couch and when eating.

A very food-motivated girl, Mabel has already learned words like "potty and "come." Housetraining is going well and she does great in the crate - with some basic training, Mabel is likely to perfect her manners in no time.

Mabel is new to the rescue. We will add more information as we get to know the dog better.

If you are interested in meeting a dog or cat, we require an adoption application. If the animal has "HAS APPLICATION" listed, they are still available to receive additional applications but also may be in the process of being adopted soon. City Dogs & City Kitties Rescue is a foster-based rescue in Washington, DC. We do not have a shelter. CDCK has a thorough adoption process to find the best possible fit for each of our dogs and cats (we do not operate under a first-come, first-served model).

Upon accepting a new cat or dog into the organization, we provide a basic vet visit that includes necessary vaccinations, disease screenings, deworming, microchips, and spay/neuter for dogs six months and older. We do not provide a comprehensive medical exam before adoption. As a result, sickness, injury, and disability may exist unbeknownst to CDCK. City Dogs & City Kitties Rescue is not responsible for payment of any vet care, including known and unknown medical conditions once a cat or dog is adopted from us.
Dog specific: Rabies, DHPP, Lepto and Bordetella vaccines. They are tested for HW, Lyme, Ehrlichia, Anaplasmosis.

Most cats and dogs will have a house-training accident in the initial days in their new home and we cannot guarantee any pet is housebroken or crate trained.
