Luna is a Catahoula mix who is playful, loving and just an all-around wonderful dog. She is great with other dogs and is very people-focused. Luna was born in April of 2023 and weighs about 40lbs.

Luna is house trained, crate trained and knows her basic cues. She is still has that playful puppy energy, is super silly, and is such a love. She enjoys chasing balls, carrying around stuffies (she's very gentile with them), playing with other dogs and getting love from her people. She settles once her exercise needs are met, she's not a dog you would consider "hyper", just a young, athletic dog. She loves snoozing in front of the woodstove after a long hike.

Luna will need ample opportunities for exercise and interactive play multiple times a day so she doesn't get bored. Catahoulas are incredibly smart, driven and need to stay busy and engaged. When they have those opportunities, they are wonderful family pets. She doesn't like being left home alone for long periods of time (because it's boring, and she doesn't want to miss out of any of the fun), but over time her foster has trusted her to be out of her crate for a couple of hours here and there. She is not at all destructive out of her crate, though she does try to keep herself busy, by "reorganizing" area rugs mostly. She has been living a country life with two dogs (one her age and one senior) and a fenced yard. She would love to find a similar set up in her forever home. She is very interested in watching wildlife (mostly deer and turkeys), but has never tried to jump the fence to chase. For a breed with a pretty high prey drive, this is quite impressive and speaks to her impulse control.

Luna arrived to AHR with her puppies Rebel, Sam, Glory and Hero and was an excellent, nurturing Momma to them.

Adoption fees cover age specific vaccinations, martingale and collar, spay/neuter, microchip, heartworm/lyme/ehrlichia test, worming etc.

Adoption fees:
Through 6 months of age $450;
7 months to through 5 years $400;
6 years and under 9 years $325: bonded pairs are $500;
9 years and older $250: bonded pairs are $300

PLEASE NOTE - We will check your veterinary reference, to ensure that current and prior dogs have a history of being kept up to date on rabies and distemper, have had annual heartworm tests, and are on heartworm preventative at least 6 months of the year. Current pets must by spayed/neutered.
