Meet Lucky
Hi, I'm Lucky! Formally Dog
I spent my first nine months outside on a chain, living under a tree. I didn’t want to herd stock, so I lost my job and moved into rescue.
When I got to rescue, my name was just Dog. Foster Mom said I deserved a better name than that, so she gave me several options. When she said “Lucky”, I felt really happy and my tail wiggled like crazy, so she said that’s what they would call me. That made me happy, and I wiggled some more.
When I got to my foster home, I was scared to come inside. Once I got inside, I wanted to hide in a dark closet, but my foster parents wouldn’t let me do that. Once I got inside, I didn’t want to go back outside. And once outside, I would walk a few steps, then lie down and not move. I couldn’t explain why. But my foster parents figured it was because I was used to my chain, and only being able to walk a few steps at a time. Once I figured out I could keep walking, I was SO happy! My tail wiggled some more. Now I walk with my head held high. I love to walk and wag my tail!
I like other dogs, and I like people. When my fosters take me for walks, I get SO excited when I see people. I hope they will see me and want to meet me. Everyone who has met me, loves me! If I see people who don’t get to meet me, I get disappointed. Until I can find more people to meet!
If I see dogs, I get super excited, and I have a really cool thing that I do – I lie down, put my head between my paws, look hopeful, and wag my tail like crazy. I want them to know that I want to be friends! Foster Mom says this is also a super cute move.
My foster parents call me Velcro dog because I like to be near them, but I've also settled into the house, and I can take my naps when they're nearby now. I need some experience walking on a leash, but I'm getting the hang of it already.
Since I’ve never lived inside until now, I am also working on potty training, but I’m getting that down, too. I love my crate, and happily spend time in there when I am not being supervised.
I am a quick study, and am learning sit, down, and stay. Foster Mom says I’d probably be good at Agility and the sports of Nose Work, or Tracking. I am sure I could be good at lots of things, as long as I am with my humans and can wag my tail.
My tail is the happiest part of me. If you're feeling lucky, you can make me yours and see for yourself!
