Meet Lily
www.youluckydogrescue.org - Adoption Application can be found at this website.
Lily is 4 years old and 53lbs.
My name is Lily. I love everyone, young, old, and everyone in between. Overall, I’m a happy go lucky spirit and very upbeat and cheerful. You can see my constant cheerfulness as my tail virtually never stops wagging. With the white tip on my tail it’s sort of like a little flag constantly waving back and forth. I am very warm and affectionate and love to both give and receive lots of love and attention.
I’m an adult dog, probably around 4 years old. I'm playful but in a gentle, medium-level energy, sort of way. I’m curious about everything and so follow my family around everywhere and try and stick my nose in everything. But how else would I explore? I love to follow my family around and insert myself into everything they’re doing, it’s part of the fun of being with a family.
I am house trained, and crate trained and currently get crated when everyone goes out. If I’m in my crate and people are doing stuff around me, I’ll paw at the door and try to explain that “Cuteness like me shouldn’t be locked up when everyone else gets have a ball.”
My foster mom, dad, & 2-legged brother think I’m a total sweetheart. My 4-legged foster brother likes laying on the floor with me while dad’s working in the office. That brother is kind of getting up there in years and doesn’t like to play with me as much as I’d like, but we bond while napping next to each other.
As I mentioned, I’m a real sweetie. While I’m really not big on the big wet kisses type of thing (I’m too refined of a lady for that messy stuff), I enthusiastically greet my family whenever anyone comes home with lots of tail wagging and a few very gentle jumps too. I don’t really jump on people, but I do get up on my hind legs and balance really well in place while doing a little paw dance. I love to cuddle whenever anyone is around. I’ll come over right next to someone and when called up, plop my self on the couch, bed, or La Z Boy with my family.
My favorite thing of all time is tummy rubs. I absolutely LOVE them. So if you’re scratching me, even if it’s a little tickle under the chin, I inevitably do my “Total Floppage” move by tipping over and falling onto whatever surface I’m on…Presto!! Tummy front and center for rubbing achieved!!
I also love to play. I love a good game of “Fetch” or “Tug.” I’m usually pretty happy with 2 or so 20-minute sessions of either of those games, and then I sleep very well at night. I am good with my toys and don’t chew them up or destroy them, but I do throw them around every now and then. I would really like a fur-ever family that not only understands how to receive and give love to a warm affectionate dog like me, but also has someone I can play with too (at least some of the time), either 2-legged or 4-legged. I don’t seem to have a prey drive, whatever that is, but I have not been officially tested with a cat (I don’t know what that is either). My foster family says I have a very “soft” mouth, like a sporting dog, so they are thinking I’d be fine with almost any other animals, but they said I have to go through some testing to be sure. I have no food aggression and am more than willing to share everything with my canine foster brother.
I am very trainable as I am currently hanging out with a professional trainer who is teaching me all sorts of things. I can’t wait to show my fur-ever family all my new manners!
Do I sound like the part of your family that you’ve been missing?
For more information on our adoption process, please visit our website at www.youluckydogrescue.org and read our Adoption FAQ's and Before You Adopt documents. You can complete an online adoption application from our website. You can also email info@youluckydogrescue.org for additional details that are not included in this biography.
PRIVATE MEET & GREETS: Submitting an adoption application is required before a private meet & greet will be scheduled. We will complete a pre-screening first to make sure that the dog you are interested in is a good fit for you. That way, we don't unnecessarily waste your time or the foster's time.
Our adoption fee is $300 and includes all age appropriate vaccines, spay or neuter and microchipping. All of our rescue dogs are heart worm tested annually beginning at 9 months of age, and they are kept on monthly heart worm and flea preventatives.
The breed and age included in this listing is based upon the opinion of a vet that has examined the dog. We cannot confirm the age of the dog unless the dog was born in the care of the rescue.
We are located in the metro Atlanta area. We currently do not allow out of state adoptions as a home check is required as part of the adoption process.
