Meet Lilly

Lily will be adopted in the Tulsa area.

Sweet, gentle and endearing from the first glance describes little Lily. She has such an intuitive grasp on what others are feeling which leaves her with an incredible sense of empathy. Especially so with her poodle foster brother who has severe bouts of anxiety. She's the first one to rush to his side and start tapping his shoulder with her paw to let him know she is nearby and he won't suffer alone. She most often nuzzles up to her other poodle foster brother to replenish her own need for love. They're often found sleeping in his bed and are the best of friends.

She loves meeting new people and other dogs. She's very peaceful and generally doesn't bark unless someone comes to the front door and her foster siblings start barking first, in which case she happily joins in the chorus. She's remarkably agile for her age and size especially in the way she scurries across the back of the couch to get from one side of the room to the other in a blink. Lily is certainly a fearless tiny girl with a lot of spirit! Lily loves to work on her Kong treat dispenser toy in the mornings and wrestle with stuffed animal toys as big as she is in the afternoons. She keeps her mind and body active with play but is partial to a good nap as well.

She doesn't love being walked on a leash yet but she's working on it. She does really enjoy sitting on the covered patio shaded from the day's heat, walking around in the yard literally sniffing the flowers or off leash in the small dog area of the dog park. She does great in the car in a doggy car booster seat and likes to look out the window as long as it's not open which she appears to dislike. She loves to go everywhere with her foster mom and enjoys taking in her surroundings while being driven around in her dog stroller. She is never disruptive in public and would make the perfect pup for someone who wants to spend every moment with their canine companion by their side. That makes her the perfect emotional support dog. She may do best in a home with retired folks who are looking for a lap dog or even people who work from home. Her foster mother works from home and Lily is always calm and peaceful.

Health wise she had a number of mammary tumors removed and recovered very well. Shes fully vaccinated and up to date on all heartworm flea and tick prevention as well as microchipped. She has full medical clearance. During her tumor removal it was discovered she had a heart murmur which is minor and requires no medication or treatment but the vet recommends any future adopter have an ultrasound done once yearly to keep an eye on it.

She's had a significant amount of teeth removed in order to be at her healthiest. Because of this she doesn't chew or bite on things she shouldn't however this hasn't diminished her appetite one bit! She comes running when she hears food being prepared in the kitchen from across the home. She loves to eat and has good meal time manners even if she sometimes has to be reminded to not disturb the bowls of her foster brothers and sister.

Lily's suspicious of the food+water bowl stand so approaches it in slow motion making her look like she's playing a game of charades but she shows no such suspicion of the vacuum cleaner unlike many other pups.

She likes to burrow down into a fluffy blanket to nap and wear onesies at home as she's always cold. But she will warm your heart. She may be tiny but with a huge heart and a quirky personality you'll adore.

Lily still struggles with crate training and being contained in any way when her foster mom goes out whether in a playpen, kennel or in the kitchen behind a baby gate. She vocalizes and has separation anxiety so would not do well in a home where her humans will be gone all day at work. She is potty trained most of the way and come very far. She has worked very hard for her success and seems genuinely disappointed in herself if she does have an occasional accident. Because at the end of the day all Lily wants to do is please her human and be next to them at all times. She's her foster moms constant shadow at home, loves to be carried around, held, going on errands in a strap on baby carrier and snuggling up to (or playing with) her foster siblings. She just wants to make those around her happy and she loves to feel included
