Leo Black Labrador Retriever Bellingham, WA

Leo is a charming 1-year-old retriever mix with a heart full of love and a spirit ready to flourish in a forever home. Found as a stray, Leo faced some tough times after being likely hit by a car, resulting in a broken hip and some scrapes. The shelter did a great job caring for him but sadly his time ran out. Thankfully, he was rescued from the euthanasia list by Happy Tails Happy Homes, giving him a second chance at life.

This sweet boy is well on his way to recovery and is eager to find a family that can help him thrive. Leo is a wonderful companion who rides excellently in the car, gets along well with other dogs, and is non-destructive in the home. Plus, he's a quiet guy who doesn't bark much!

Leo's favorite pastimes include being around people, enjoying leisurely walks, and snuggling up on the couch for some well-deserved rest. While he may initially be a bit shy and head-sensitive when it comes to putting on his harness or leash, once he trusts you, he transforms into a lovable cuddle bug. Leo takes time to warm up to new people but after some treats and patience he is your best friend.

Thanks to the generous donations to the Stockton shelter and fundraising efforts by Happy Tails Happy Homes, Leo's surgery and medical needs to repair his hip will be fully covered. His surgery date is TBD. Most likely he will need an FHO. After recovering he will be good to go and be the trail dog he so badly wants to be.
