Meet Leo!
This adorable boy somehow found himself at a very high kill shelter in GA and we were lucky to come across him and pull him before his time was up. Boy, are we happy we did because he is an amazing pup!
Leo is approx. 1 year old & around 50 pounds. He has the most beautiful shiny black coat, adorable floppy ears, big brown eyes, and a cute little face. He is a very happy, playful & affectionate boy with an athletic build. If he isn’t playing with the other dogs in his foster home, he can be found cuddling on or near his foster mom. He is a complete love bug who loves snuggles and giving kisses. He would do great in a home with or without another playful dog as he loves playing and it helps to burn some of that energy, but he also loves to get as much attention as he can from the human(s) so he would not mind having that all to himself!
Leo is good in the car (he is nervous at first but sits quietly for the drive), good with other dogs & good with kids. He has a submissive personality when playing with other dogs but can get overly excited when first meeting. As always, proper introductions are important. We think he would be OK with dog savvy cats, but he is still young and learning about them. He gets very excited when meeting kids and just wants to give them all the kisses! While he loves the kiddos, he is still young and could potentially knock over a small child out of excitement so as always, adult supervision is needed around kids.
Leo still has some puppy traits and every now and then he’ll find something he shouldn’t have so he is learning “leave it” and is doing well with that. He also sometimes tries to stand up to see what is on the counter or if he’s very excited, he’ll jump up on you to try to kiss your face, so we are working on “down”. His crate is his safe place, and he knows the word “crate”. He will go to it when you say it and once he goes in he gets a treat which he loves. When his foster mom is not home or is sleeping, he is in his crate, he also eats in his crate. When she is home the crate is left open and he’ll go in there if he has a bone or toy he doesn’t want to share with the other pups.
Leo is both agile and clumsy. Weird combination we know. While he runs fast and can gracefully jump over any obstacles in his way or turn corners at the last minute while in full speed, he also sometimes falls of the couch or runs sideways into someone or something because he is too busy watching the other dog LOL. He is an active, fun, and silly boy. Leo would love a home where he will have plenty of walks and play time & maybe go on adventures/hikes, but also where he will be able to spend time snuggling on the couch watching TV with his human(s).
Leo is crate trained, neutered, microchipped, current on vaccines, and up to date with flea/ tick/ heartworm prevention. He had his Proheart 12 injection in August, so he will be covered for a year with that!
