Meet Lenny

Lenny is a male husky about 2 years old. He was extremely underweight when rescued and has been fostered with a trainer and other huskies in an unkenneled home in Manhattan Beach, He does very well with other huskies and and gets attached very quickly. He is a very sweet boy and follows his foster all over the house. He is affectionate and needs attention as well as someone who can give him he exercise and love he needs. He would do great with someone who is home most of the time and has another submissive dog. PLEASE SEE ADDITIONAL INFORMATION BEFORE BEFORE RESPONDING.

Lenny was rescued on June 30, 2020 by Shadow Husky Rescue from the Los Angeles Department of Animal Care and Control, Palmdale Animal Care Center. Prior to his rescue, he had been a return for a minor bite.

Immediate upon release from the shelter on June 30, 2020, upon driving home with Lenny, the initial foster’s husband and wife and decided to go through a drive through and Lenny was in the back seat. After the husband who was in the driver’s seat of the vehicle received the food order, he placed the bag on the passenger side floor. Lenny immediately stood at attention and moved forward placing his paw in the center console. As the driver was about to pull away from the drive through, he motioned for Lenny to move back with his arm and moved forward due to the momentum of the car. Lenny misinterpreted this as an act of either aggression/keeping food form him and lunged forward, biting the driver’s arm. This bite broke skin requiring the foster to go to urgent care, although no stitches were necessary or needed.

Lenny’s has been fostered with a professional trainer since July 2020. His trainer reports that Lenny’s biting is more accurately called nipping specifically when he is pushed back and he will acclimate to a new home. Lenny is such a good dog and very endearing.

Lenny needs an adopter who is husky savvy, patient, understanding and able to give him the full love and attention he deserves.

Lenny has separation anxiety and is naturally submissive. Lenny does not play as aggressively as most huskies play and can be timid around other dogs. He gets overly excited to meet new humans. He is a small dog and currently underweight. Slowly he is putting on weight.
