Meet LASS

Approximate age at the time of rescue: 4 years
Current weight: 38 pounds
Found abandoned in the mountains of Puerto Rico with no houses, food or water in sight. She was terrified by big trucks blaring their horns as they rounded tight corners. She hugged the roots of a Mango tree trying to make herself small and simply disappear from her fears. We spotted her as the sun began to rise, we called to her to come for food, but she didn't move. Time and a soft tone began to calm her, but she still didn't budge. We drove away, but only to get more help. When we returned, we could see her sleeping under the same Mango tree. As we approached and spoke softly again, she rolled onto her back and gave in to trust. Named Lass as she was rescued on St. Patrick's Day, she's truly our Pot of Gold!
