Meet Kona
Kona is possibly the best’est girl ever! This 1 ½ year old Lab mix is a recent graduate of basic obedience at Dog’s Best Friend and is ready to find her forever family.
Kona was taken in by her current foster family 5 months ago when they intervened upon learning that Kona’s family was going to take her to the pound. At that time, she was completely untrained so the likelihood was high that she could be euthanized at the shelter.
The foster family made a commitment to get Kona to an adoptable state as they believe she is now! They knew young Kona just needed training, time and consistence rules. Over the past few months, she has blossomed into a really nice dog.
Obviously with a young dog, like Kona, there is still work to be done. She will need more training on house manners (not barking and jumping at people when they visit), not pulling on the leash, and coming when called.
She is a great dog, loves to snuggle under the covers or blankets, and lays still once there. She also needs to be sensitized to different environments (like the dog park, going out and about), to build her confidence. She has an excellent temperament and has the potential to be the type of dog you could take anywhere.
Kona is house trained, vaccinated, spayed and heartworm negative. She knows several commands and knows great things happen when she “kennels up!”.
Kona is with a private foster family in the Madison, WI area. NorthStar WI is helping the family rehome Kona. Please fill out an application today at https://www.northstarwi.com/adopt/application-form . A small donation will be asked at the adoption to ensure a safe future for this wonderful dog .
