Meet KJ

KJ was surrendered along with Tiger to the New. York City Animal Care Centers - the New York City Municipal Shelter in May. The owner gave a confusing story about how they got the two dogs - He received Tiger's pregnant mom and the mom gave birth to Tiger. But he came along with KJ.

The New. York City Animal Care Centers is an overcrowded shelter and these two would definitely get lost in the shuffle. Although the shelter enviornment is a stressful one, Tiger still remained wiggly and friendly throughout the examination.

A wonderful woman stepped up to save their lives.

These ae KJ STATS:

cats? Yes, though his exposure has been limited - he is curious but not aggressive toward them

On leash? Walks well on a slack leash

Housetrained? Yes

Crate trained? Partially. He will sleep in a large crate overnight or for periods throughout the day but should not be left in a crate for extended periods every day.

Paper trained? No

KJ loves people and other dogs. His ideal home would have one or more of each. KJ has a medium energy level. While he can play all day, he also settles down nicely when playtime is over. His ideal home would have a yard to play in as well as a daily walk. KJ loves attention and his ideal home wouldn’t leave him alone all day without a playmate. Most importantly, KJ loves attention, so his ideal home would love him to death!

KJ craves attention and he tries hard to please you. When you talk to him he looks at you with his beautiful amber eyes as though he is trying to understand you. KJ loves to play with other dogs, especially his brother, Tiger. KJ will splash around in a kiddy pool if provided with one

KJ was likely untrained in his earlier life and needs to have all training done by me reinforced. He needs to continue being made to sit for treats, for leashing up, and to wait before entering/exiting a door or gate. He does great with these skills now but they need to consistently be reinforced.

KJ is a great dog and I would keep him if I could. KJ is lovable, goofy, is good with other dogs/animals, has no food aggression. He chews his bones but doesn’t seem to chew other things, He is very affectionate, attentive and loyal. With the right attention and consistency, KJ will make a fantastic pet.

Of Note: KJ’s brother, Tiger is also available for adoption. They make a stunning pair. If you are open to the possibility of adopting two dogs, check out Tiger!
