Meet Kenny!

Kenny is a 4-year-old black lab mix who weighs 83 pounds of pure love and loyalty. He was surrendered along with his brother, Richie (Richie is arriving 1/9/25) when their owner could no longer care for them. For over a year, Kenny has been living in a shelter down south, patiently waiting for a family to call his own. He’s ready to start the next chapter of his life with someone who will love him as much as he loves them.

Update (2/1/25) Kenny’s northern foster shares: “Kenny has fit right in with our family—he’s such a sweetheart! He greets everyone with a wagging tail and the most soulful eyes. He’s super affectionate and loves to cuddle on the couch—his fur is the softest we’ve ever felt! He’s become best buddies with our dog, and they love playing in the backyard together, but he’s also happy to relax around the house. Kenny is amazing with our kids and seems perfectly content in our busy, noisy home. He goes along with whatever we ask of him. He’s housebroken, trustworthy when left alone, and has already learned commands like ‘touch’ and ‘come’ since he’s been here. Plus, he politely ignores our backyard chickens!”

UPDATE (1/8/25) His northern foster shares: Kenny has settled right into our family, what a friendly boy! He eagerly greets everyone he meets with a happy go lucky tail wag and soulful eyes. He and our resident dog have made fast friends. Kenny does great with our kids, and goes a long with whatever we ask of him. Whether that’s using his new crate, or trying on a dog blanket for our New England winters- he’s so easy going!

Kenny is an easygoing, friendly boy who gets along well with both kids and cats—he’s the perfect addition to a family home. He’s housebroken, walks beautifully on a leash, and is always eager to please. Kenny has a calm demeanor, making him an ideal companion for relaxing at home or enjoying a peaceful stroll through the neighborhood.

This sweet boy has been waiting far too long for his forever home. He deserves a family who will show him the love and care he’s been missing. If you’re looking for a well-mannered, affectionate companion to share your life with, Kenny could be the perfect match. Apply for Kenny today and give him the loving home he’s been waiting for!

All dogs are up to date on vaccinations and spayed/neutered at the time of adoption. All dogs require professional training to become the best family member they can be.

PLEASE READ: If a dog is listed, then s/he is currently available for adoption. Their information is correct to the best of our abilities and the information we have been given as of the day of posting. From time to time we receive new information/photos of a dog and we do recreate their listing, which means their old listing link will no longer be valid. If you are considering a dog but don't apply right away please make sure to search for the dog by name if the link you have no longer works.

Please note, GDRNE does not guarantee the breed of any dog or puppy unless stated that we have run DNA. All breeds listed are educated estimates. Note that if the dog is listed as an "Out of town pet" there are NOT additional transport fees - it is included in our adoption fee Our dogs are rescued from various situations. It is most likely that both their parents were strays and even if not, mixes of some sort and that their grandparents were mixes as well. The dog may have some genetic material of an American Staffordshire Terrier (pit bull). The dogs are usually mixes of many breeds, making them a breed all their own - a True and adorable American MUTT. If you are interested in this dog, you must submit an application. Great Dog is not a shelter so there is no building you can visit. Our dogs live in private foster homes until adopted. To learn more about our *shelterless* rescue, adoption fees, and procedures, review the list of Frequently Asked Questions on our website at WWW.GDRNE.COM.
