When Kenai first arrived, he was very reactive to being touched, and it quickly became clear that he had been living with an injury to one of his legs for years. After careful evaluation, it was determined that the best course of action was to perform an amputation to relieve him from the pain he had been enduring. Now fully healed from surgery, Kenai is a transformed dog. His fear of being touched has melted away, and he has blossomed into a gentle and affectionate companion. Kenai gets along wonderfully with other dogs and even has experience joining on horse trails, proving his adventurous spirit and willingness to embrace new experiences. Although Kenai has come a long way, he would thrive in a home with someone who understands that he may still have moments where he acts tough, a remnant of his years spent protecting his injured leg.
